@delaliftsthings: advice I wish I knew when I first started my fitness journey! If you agree or disagree I’d love to hear your opinion! #fitnessadvice #gymadvice #fitnessjourney #beginnerfitness #gymtipsforbeginners
Getting a trainer is truly the greatest thing you could do. If you’re already in the gym and trying to build consistency, you really need a plan and guidance from someone who actually knows what they’re doing

The ladder app has been so helpful bc i don’t have the money for $100 a session for personal training but their programs are great and give cues on form!

How do I find a trainer though? I’ve been lifting weights for years so I know a bit and I tried a few people out and they all knew as much or less than me. I need someone who’s more advanced

I could not agree more!!! I’ve been working with a PT for a year now. His advice and knowledge is so worth the price. And on a personal level he respects my boundaries. It’s also okay to “shop around “ and find a PT who vibes with you.

I really would love to be able to pay a trainer. I value y'all's work so much and I'm so grateful for people like you who share what you can online for those of us who just can't financially swing it. I've learned so much and remained motivated thanks to you, and hopefully next year will be a less expensive year and I can pay someone to train with!

I am so SO fortunate that the medical office we get to visit through my employer has an exercise physiologist. He does an initial assessment of fitness levels, helps us build workouts around what we want to do/can do/have access to/our goals and then meets with us every few months to assess progress and tweak our plans. It makes me feel good that what I’m doing is actually working towards my short and long term goals!!

yes! I hired a trainer who is also a nutritionist and it's been life changing, when I ask her questions that may go against her plans or directions she doesn't get upset, instead she teaches me and allows me to be curious and I absolutely love it.

i have a question about choosing how many sets? some exercises are 8 other are 12, but what is the reason? i understand reps and working your way up but why sets 8 vs 12?

The "wish I knew when I started" stuff is gold — beginners need so much more of this and so much less pressure. 🌿

I just hired a coach for exactly this reason! I spent my first six months on a pretty basic routine to make sure I could lock in the habit and know the money would be worth it, and now I feel like that coaching will really get me to the next level—it’s @Alicia - Online Fitness Coach if anyone else is looking.
