Well that model definitely doesn't work. People in Australia when looking South (towards Antarctica on that map) and people in Argentina when looking South (towards Antarctica as well) both can see sigma octantis. both of them would be looking outward on that model. But according to that model, they would both have to be looking inwards, towards each other. that would place it somewhere above Europe, but it's not visible from there And in the completely wrong direction of course
