Most people eating eggs for brain health are doing it completely wrong. A study published in the journal Nutrients found that eating eggs a specific number of times per week cut dementia risk by 27%. But eating more than that number reversed the benefit entirely. Eggs contain choline, the nutrient responsible for producing acetylcholine, the primary neurotransmitter for learning and memory. A Boston University study found higher choline intake was associated with better cognitive performance across every age group studied. But eggs also contain dietary cholesterol, and excessive amounts reduce cardiovascular function. Reduced blood flow to the brain is one of the primary drivers of cognitive decline. Too few eggs and your brain misses critical nutrients it cannot easily get elsewhere. Too many and you are trading brain health for cardiovascular strain. Getting this one number right could be one of the simplest dietary decisions you make this year. Follow so you don't miss it.
