That’s interesting, because my family and I have seen the opposite trend toward really brief movies and the popularity of shorts/reels - I think primarily due to cultural changes like ways we consume content, and our attention spans as a whole. We want longer movies, so long as they’re succinct/efficient in storytelling. I think long and boring films are a storytelling/pacing/editing issue.

Movies are my #1 hyperfixation so im probably the exception. Im actually the type that prefers a story be told in mini series form, especially if it’s a book adaptation, rather than a film. For romcoms and kids movies 70-90 mins is perfect!

Marvel movies have made it more common to start shooing without a script, just an outline and fight scenes, so they’re constantly adding scenes to make it make sense, rather than removing the way you can when you have an actual full thought out story

This seems like it may also be one of the reasons we don't have any casual watching movies anymore. My go-to example is Dave. Not fully a comedy, not particularly dramatic, not really a romance, but rewatchable and comforting. Now everything is incredibly intense in whichever direction they're going for.

does this still apply when it comes to animated movies? I often see people complaining about those not being long enough and I would be inclined to agree but I definitely still see what you mean generally speaking some of those movies can just absolutely DRAGGG on and on it kills me
