That’s not what the ick is though, or at least no what is devolved to. It’s very often just things tied directly to their style / appearance that has zero correlation to whether they’re a provider. I’m also just confused by “don’t worry about the cost of your having a good time” it’s not about the good time, it’s about the girl also showing understanding of how much dating costs and being willing to pay for the small treat when they guy has already paid for the expensive dinner.
