Have people completely lost their minds or what the hell is going on? No one can come up with anything original anymore – not a single new story, not a fresh idea, nothing! It's just "oh, let's take an old cartoon and turn it into an action movie!"
Only lazy and money-hungry studios think this is a brilliant plan. Let's take Barbie, let's take Lilo & Stitch, let's take Mickey Mouse, let's take everything that kids once loved and turn it into a movie. Why? Because originality is too hard. Creative courage is dead. It's easier to take something already proven and popular, and shove it into a new form.
Where are those filmmakers who once dared to create something new? Where are those directors who had their own vision, their own style, and the guts to take risks? Today, studios just sit in meeting rooms thinking about which childhood favorite they're going to exploit next. One cartoon here, one toy there, one old comic over there – and boom, a "new" movie is ready.
No one wants to try anything that hasn't been done before. It's safer to go with the sure thing and hope nostalgia drags people into the theaters. But in reality, this is slowly killing cinema. There's nothing new, that it's all boring. Yet they still buy the tickets because "it was so cool when I was a kid."
This isn't filmmaking anymore.
