So “I love you to the moon and back”, means a lot but also little more each day

but WHY is it moving away? like to increase orbit diameter you gotta speed up right? better yet; it would have to speed up at the apoapsis point every time. what causes that?

what if you painted 2 layers every day, you can catch up to the moon

thanks for the weirdest possible way to quantify things as always Michael, layers of paint per day is a good one

I think even a tough paint would wear off more than one layer per day. by the next morning your shoes would be clean again.

There’s no way you could measure that the moon leaves a layer of paint each year.

So if we paint the surface of the earth, one layer a day, the moon never gets farther away.

umm... akshually, if you have to wear those shoes all day your probably wearing off the layer of paint and a little bit of the shoe each day so you are really just slowing your descent toward the center of the earth

Well, by that reasoning billions of years ago, how close was the moon? The math just doesn’t work out.

The moon gets 1.5 inches further away each year and would take 50 billion years to completely leave our orbit, but fear not, humans! The sun will explode way way way before that.
