Call a Mosque. Depending on where you are, they usually have programs in place for situations like these. And the person does not have to be Muslim to receive help.

I had no choice but to call while at work. Im a nanny with cameras on me. I was politely dismissed and sent home to be further trapped and secluded. smh. but I got out eventually.

My mom took me and my sisters to a shelter in 2012 in the middle of the night panicked. They denied us. The three of us continued to be abused for 17 years after. Imagine if we hadn’t been turned away that night.

my local SOS shelter helped me. waited till he left and they picked me and the kids up. They helped me file charges, get therapy, order of protection, get custody, everything, and when in was ready, to get an apartment and job. 🥰

I have an active protective order that he has gone to jail for violating. At the moment HE is the one staying in the domestic violence shelter. WHAT?!?!?!

I worked at a ministry as a translator. We had an undocumented mom come in with 4 children (the kids were citizens) who were all being abused by dad. I made some calls. The DV shelter flat out said they wouldn’t take them because mom was an illegal immigrant.
