i think this system is unfair. i think you should be paid by every hour you are at the shop. then you have a steady income and it prevents besides being a mechanic also being a salesman. how can it be fair that a warranty job pays you less than the booktime...you literally work for free. those situations should be for the companies loss not the individual mechanic. in my country the shop provides the tools to the mechanic and you get paid by the hour, not each complete job

Bobby I got a decent gig at a mom and pop shop, hourly + commission on every job. But the downside it’s limited work only steering and suspension very little to no engine work. Should I stay or leave? I don’t wanna fall behind on other knowledge I could be getting at said dealership
