Breaking a hip isn't really about flexibility. It's about bone density. Eat that calcium and protein and do resistance workouts (with weights) in order to protect from that. You can do this too, sure, but don't think it'll protect you from that.

This reminded me of an interview I once saw with an old man in his 80's and he shared his morning stretching routine, very simple. First sitting on the edge of the bed, some head turns; few times to the right, same for left, raising lower leg left and right and some other stuff. He been doing that routine for around 50 years and has no trouble moving around. It really was ridiculously simple!
