🩸Palestinians are primarily descended from ancient Levantine populations that inhabited the area thousands of years ago.
Palestine (‘Peleset’) people were noted on hieroglyphs as neighbors of (modern-day) Egypt during Pharaoh Ramses II and III around 3200 years ago…
Research it. Root-Source it.
The oldest reference to the Peleset people is an inscription on the Egyptian monument of Medinet Habu in Luxor dated to around 1200 BCE (3200 years ago) which refers to the Peleset among those who struggled with Pharaoh Ramses III in (modern day) Egypt. Today we know the Peleset (and ‘Palashtu’) as the Palestinians who are one of several indigenous people to the Levant and Assyrian region of the Middle East.
Philosophers and scientists such as Ptolemy and Aristotle spoke of ‘Palaistine’. The Histories of Herodotus (the ‘father of history’) commonly referred to Palestine.
The name "Palestine" is a direct derivative of "Philistine". Both terms trace their roots back to the ancient Hebrew Peleshet (פלשת) and the Egyptian Peleset, which referred to the Philistines - an ancient coastal people who lived in the southern coast of the Levant in the 12th century BCE, where they intermingled with the Canaanites.
The region was previously known as "the Land of Canaan." After the arrival of the Philistines, the region was called "Philistia."
The term ‘Palestine’ became the official name of the country in the 2nd century CE, specifically during the reign of the Roman Emperor Hadrian in 135 CE.
‘Semitic’ denotes a family of languages that includes Arabic, Aramaic, Akkadian, Hebrew, and Phoenician.
Palestinians are Semitic. Sephardic Judeans are Semitic. Mizrahi Judeans are Semitic. White Eastern European people are not from the brown latitude of the lower Levant beyond the last several centuries…tho we can trace all people out of Africa over millennia.
Palestinians, Sephardics, and Mizrahis are brown-skinned and indigenous to the Levant region of the Middle East, which makes them part of the broader group of Semitic language speakers and ancestral descent. Genetic evidence also shows they are largely descended from ancient Canaanite populations.
