I can attest; the doctor did not make it in time for my birth, nurse did it allll. Still charged me over 6k for the doctor that wasn’t there.

Hi! I’m an Operating Room (OR) nurse.
Bupivacaine, also known as Marcaine, is a long-acting local anesthetic that works by blocking nerve signals, preventing pain. It’s commonly used in a wide variety of surgical procedures, some dental procedures, and during childbirth.
In your situation, it was most likely administered along with a small dose of an opioid, such as fentanyl, to enhance pain relief. This combination is commonly used during labor because it provides excellent pain control while allowing for lower doses of each medication, which can help reduce side effects. Hope this helps!

My Canadian friend had a baby and her husband was complaining about the $30 parking cost. I told him I was still paying off my 5 month olds birth.

So what’s the point of insurance anymore if they aren’t gonna fully pay the full hospital bill?!

Just so you know, OB repayment is bundled billing. So his fee included all 9 months of your prenatal care, your delivery, and your postpartum care. And he still probably only received about $1800-3000 of all of the money paid.

I had brain surgery last month. My insurance was billed $145,000 not including any doctor fees which was 2 surgeons and the anesthesiologist. Luckily for me, I owe $0 because I met my deductible in January...on another surgery for my brain that cost over $100,000.

I’m a nurse practitioner and work for a large hospital system and I have their health insurance. I had surgery in December on my wrist and elbow at the same hospital I work at…you want to know what my out of pocket cost was? FOUR thousand dollars. I had to pay 3k before they would even check me in for surgery that morning 😂
