@josieeec___: ACHILLES RUPTURE | Week 4 to 6 Post Surgery GOAL: Continue to progress weight bearing begin to wean from crutches, continue to progress active ankle range of movement, progress gym-based strength exercises within weight bearing limits and begin early calf exercises. This fortnight was mainly about continuing to build on the previous fortnight’s achievements and staying committed to my rehab: ✨Control of active ankle range has progressed and I’m getting closer to neutral (plantar grade). ✨Progressed my gym routine in line with my weight bearing tolerance and under physio guidance. ✨Started seated calf raises, the first of many, many, calf raises during this rehab pathway. ✨Started weaning my crutches to 1x elbow crutch. I look very uncoordinated and learning to walk again is HARD WORK. Atrophy on my affected side is still very evident, even in my thigh and hip region so I am very excited to increase my weight bearing and left sided use from here on out. My calf muscle is slowly waking up and it feels great to finally be able to “switch it on”. Amongst all the rehab and working, I’m having more fun this fortnight and wanting to leave the house and socialise more. I’ve enjoyed lunches with friends, work parties and a few footy games too. My crutches are now bedazzled and I am fully embracing the boot life. My rehab timeline is individualised to me and based off surgical guidelines and the experience of my physiotherapist. If you’re on the same journey, please work closely with your own rehab team before replicating anything you see online 🙂. #achilles #achillesrupture #achillessurgery #injuryrecovery #achillestendon

Did you get the surgery done privately or on the NHS? I was in a moon boot for 7 weeks whilst I waited for surgery and only had it 3 weeks ago x

It was so good to see you enjoy the healing time. Like myself, i'm now in the post ops 8 weeks. Nothing much can be done as my PT adviced to give more time for the tendon to recover. Wishing you speedy recovery too
