I’m from southeastern Missouri, live about 60 miles east of that area, yes it’s pretty bad, but not once in a thousand years, more about once every 10 to 20 years apart

1000 year flooding doesn't mean it only happens once every 1000 years. Also doesn't mean It's a rare event. It's the percentage/chance/odds it will happen. It's more about the probability of it occurring.

Here in Kansas City we are at +7 inches of rainfall and I’ve watched many storms cross KS to MO to our south. This is what’s called the boot heel in MO and it’s not surprising. The storms missing us to the south have been gully washers.
