If you want to grow closer to God, you must stop these 4 things. First, stop worrying. Worry will not bring you closer to God. It will only make your heart heavier and keep your eyes fixed on the problem instead of looking to the Lord. God wants you to bring your burdens to Him, not carry them alone. Second, stop speaking negative words over your life. Your words matter. What you keep saying to yourself will affect how you see yourself. So stop saying: “I will never change.” “I am not good enough.” “Nothing good will ever happen to me.” Start speaking God’s truth over your life. Start seeing yourself the way God sees you. You are not forgotten. You are not without hope. And you are not too far for God to restore. Third, do not let fear control you. The enemy will place fear and doubt in your heart to stop you from becoming who God has called you to be. But remember this: Fear is not from God. God goes before you, and He is also with you. So do not let fear make decisions for you. Fourth, stop pleasing people. Stop deciding how you should live based on what other people will think of you. When you follow God, not everyone will understand you. Not everyone will agree with you. And not everyone will like your choices. But your life was not created to please everyone. Your life was created to please God. So today, ask yourself: Am I living to be accepted by people, or am I living to obey God?
