okay if the "humans arent greedy" isnt a plausible argument, i am going to say that greed is an instinct that is not uncommon in humans. the system we live in is also shaped by US, and the reason why we see "primitive communism", is because humans can cooperate smoothly woth full trust only in communities that are only a few thousand people in size, as the average human can keep any relations with only about 500 people. humans moved away from those systems, because cooperation based on trust simply stops working once the group size exceeds a certain threshold. there is also the question of how efficiently goods and commodities can be produced by this peer-cooperation, and at a certain scale they require management which creates a hierarchy. the efficiency of production is also affected by how complex the goods are, and how large of a supply chain they require, because the resources have to inevitably be exchanged between independent settlements, and exchange based on needs can quickly become inefficient and prone to errors, and so currency is used instead.
currency, or loans, allow for less inefficient transportation of value, and is magnitudes easier to bargain with than bargaining directly with the use of goods
