According to Grandview Research, the AI market in marketing is expected to reach roughly $82 billion by 2030. That’s a massive market. But there is one headwind few people are talking about… SLOP. Every time I go to an event and ask people whether they use AI in their marketing, almost everyone raises their hand. And then, when I ask how many people are finding themselves fixing errors AI is creating in marketing, almost everyone raises their hand. Then I go on to ask how much time they are spending… 30 minutes a week, 1 hour, 2 hours, etc. Almost everyone raises their hand, and most people spend hours a week, and the heavy users spend, in many cases, hours a day. Everyone wants to talk about AGI, and I don’t doubt it will change the world, but I’m still waiting for them to do basic stuff right. And as new releases come out, I still see many fundamental issues, like inaccuracies. I do believe AI will get better, but for now, it’s important to keep humans in the loop.
