definitely cheating. unless you summit alone, naked, barefoot and without using any ropes ladders oxygen etc it's not legit 👍

Although I stand by my opinion that at the end, it is a very selfish enterprise, I cannot but have huge admiration for Sir Hilary and Tenzing Norgay back in 1953 who did it without most of the paraphernalia we see now.

The whole idea of “cheating” is daft anyway, you’re not competing, it’s your own climb measured against yourself so how can anything short of getting airlifted to the summit (which is impossible anyway) be considered cheating. You’re in an environment the human body was not designed to exist in, you absolutely should use every tool at your disposal

What’s the difference between going up and down he did the training at home rather than on the mountain. And then did his acclimatization with the gas. If this could help those who have done the training and could help even those who have wanted this forever and trained for it forever and suffered major issues during the rounds on the mountain and had to go home. My only concern would be this giving those who DONT have any business climbing Everest thinking they can just because of the gas. Personally I think that you should have to have a proven record of summating a certain number of other peaks at likes 5k+

It's just not real mountaineering. it is an achievement of course but Everest is a done mountain now for charities and rich clients

I love this and think it is so cool ! I know alot of people dont like it but I think anything to make it safer and shorter time on the mountain is so much safer!

i have 53% lung capacity at the moment so my body is using oxygen better than other people right now. So when my sternum is not longer compressing my heart and lungs you tell me i am equipped for mountaineering. ( i would never go) i am just a autistic girl with a hyperfixation

Ladders, oxygen, fixed ropes, people carrying your extra oxygen and your bags… A person could argue that that’s all “cheating “. I don’t think him using gas is cheating! I personally don’t think anybody should be summiting Everest. It seems like a very selfish endeavor and it’s destroying the mountain.

I don’t think it’s cheating. Where do they get that? Something is cheating the fact that they’re even doing it should be enough. Why do they have to capitalize on all of it? This is an achievement that you can’t do without tools. Why is it considered cheating when you’re just trying to ensure you come back to your wife and children?
