@sonyadolguinacpa: If you’re an influencer, the tax authorities want a piece of the value of your PR and “gifted” products! #influencer #tax #financialliteracy #business #influencermarketing
Isn’t this why a lot of influencers do giveaways and include a lot of the PR stuff they get because they’re proving they’re not keeping the item so they won’t be taxed?(I could be SO wrong on this though)

The IRS sucks. They let billionaires do whatever they want while extorting everyone else. I know this girl is probably fairly well compensated if she got that much gifted product, but I still genuinely don’t think it’s ok to charge her 30% on stuff that drops value the second it has transferred hands.

Does she not have an accountant that is telling her exactly how much money she needs to be setting aside for said 1099?

This makes no sense literally a free gift. Unless you make a video about it where you get paid then there should not be any charge for getting a free gift.

Ok so I’m for once with the influencers on this one cus what do you mean you can’t tax billionaires on their shares cus it’s an unrealised gain but you can tax a 20 year old for some free makeup?

and this is why it’s important to demand pay for anything we are sent. then put money aside from that.

oh, this has happened to several WAGS actually. where their social media was used to prove they received gifts etc and they got taxed for it.
so be careful what you show I guess 💀

I mean.. if being an “influencer” is an actual job, why is it so surprising to get taxed like people with regular jobs?

Same with a sweepstakes. The retail value is counted as income. Which is bs but the government is always gonna get their cut. 😂

I could talk ab this for hours! It’s insane that tax laws changed so quickly to take money from pr (something mostly women get) yet there are not anti ai laws for deepfakes.

Small business owners always need to hold 30% or more back for taxes.

Why I stopped accepting the dumb “prizes” I’d win in my sales position with AT&T. We had to sign for the value and got taxed heavy for it

So they are not really getting anything for free, the companies are shady for sending 1099 on “pr gifts”

People need to understand that there’s a difference between a gift and PR, especially when it comes to taxes.

Just don’t accept any goods worth more than $600 and the companies won’t 1099 you. EVERY company has to 1099 you, it’s not all of the companies added up together. Keep it $599 or less in a year and you’ll be fine.
