Is it possible that there are multiple ways to be saved? Can you receive the Holy Spirit then die and not go to heaven?

Also are you saying that the ONLY baptism in the Bible is water baptism? There can’t be any other type?

It seems like Noah was saved FROM water rather than by it? I’m not sure I’m understanding Peter‘s analogy here.

Jakob, thank you for patiently explaining. Lots of people will argue in the comments but there will be some sincere seekers who will come to the knowledge of the truth through your work.

So acts says that is when you get the gift of the Holy Spirit. Is the Holy Spirit only inside us when we get baptized? Or is it just the gifts of the Spirit when we are baptized? Is baptism the only way beyond supernatural happenings like a dove or tongues of fire?

I can appreciate this take, but personally, John MacArthur's commentary on this scripture makes more sense to me. He says that Peter is referring to a figurative immersion into union with Christ (the Ark of safety) from God's judgements (the flood waters). But where Noah's Ark saved him in a natural sense, Christ's Ark will save you in an eternal sense. This view also explains Peter's insistence on clarifying that he is not talking about the act of water baptism (which he clarifies through that bit about the removal of dirt from the flesh.)

Does anyone have any book recommendations on Coptic/Oriental Orthodoxy? I'm curious about it (church history generally) and would love to learn.

He is explaining to people like you how water baptism doesn’t save🤦🏻‍♂️read the passage. He uses Noah’s ark to explain it. The 8 souls weren’t saved by water, they were saved by being inside the ark. It’s saying we need to be in the body of Christ to be saved. Baptism as it explains doesn’t wash away sins, it shows a good conscience towards God and represents a new life

I’m still confused by verse 20 and the use of “through.” I don’t think it’s clear whether the intent is to say “was saved by the water” or “was brought safely through water.” But I don’t know how much that changes 21 nor do I know Greek.

“In which”. In the ark. Saved through water. Water is judgement, chaos, burial, earth in a baptism. Jesus is the ark. In every case typologically. Also he has a very different understanding of the flood in 2 Peter 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly

Stay Calm :
The water now that saves us is the water mentioned by Jesus to Nicodemus which is in Ezekiel 36:25-27. Not a physical water baptism.

the floodwater saved Noah from 1) the widespread violence and persecution prevalent at the time, 2) the pressure to apostatize and widespread presence of sin
