@tunehq: "Forever Man" - Eric Clapton (1985) Happy Saturday everyone. Let's take a look at this week's music video choice: The "Forever Man" music video was directed by Kevin Godley and Lol Creme. They were former members of the band 10cc and became prominent music video directors of the 1980s. That's something completely new to me! They've directed for The Police, Duran Duran Herbie Hancock, Paul McCartney, and The Cars. The song wasn't written by Clapton, it was written by Jerry Lynn Williams. This was in effort to get more radio pop singles for Clapton, which worked well because it went #1. This was considered to be Clapton's first major music video, mostly due to the dawn of MTV and the success of the channel promoting artists' videos. Clapton became more than a guitar hero during this time, becoming now a radio friendly pop rock icon, beyond his main identity as a bluesman. This song is one of my favorites by him, especially because of his 80s Stratocaster tones. I bought my first American Strat because of his, which is black with a maple fretboard like his. It kinda looks like a similar bluesman turned radio pop star's music video. Can you guess which video I am thinking of?
