legally the statement is correct. the defence do not go to court to prove your innocent, the prosecution go to court to try to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and if they fail its a not guilty verdict. its not an innocent verdict.

the level of proof required for someone to be considered guilty in a court of law is an intentionally extremely high bar. The law operates on the basis that it is better for 100 guilty men to go free than one guilty man to be imprisoned. The prosecution must prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt. So yes being found not guilty doesn’t equal being innocent and court of public opinion does not require the same level of proof.

I don’t know the specifics of this case so this isn’t a comment on his case in particular. But in general and in the law the statement is correct. You can be found not guilty simply because there isn’t enough proof or there was slight doubt not because you are innocent. The point is to prove guilt not innocence. Denying fact does nothing
