9 years at 20mg. 2 month taper. Thought I was going to die. Felt like a heroin addict in withdrawal. Slept in the shower for weeks. Will never in my life take another SSRI.

Sertraline was ridiculous. You don't know you're even withdrawing and you think all the symptoms are from depression and anxiety. Didn't leave my room for months.

This confirms not continuing is the right thing I’ve just started a week ago and it’s been a hell of a week the side effects aren’t worth the benefits that I’m not even getting yet…. Tonight’s the first night I won’t take it I’m assuming I’ll be fine given I’ve only been on it for 8 days 🤞🏻

I didn’t know any better about tapering very slowly and came off in a month after being on Zoloft for 6 years highest dose 200mg. It will be four years at the end of the month and I am still dealing with withdrawal symptoms.

I was on only 5mg of citalopram for few years. FIVE!!!! My withdrawals lasted for months EVEN slowly weaned off!!! It’s now been over a year and never been better

My husband has been the sickest he’s ever been in his life the last 10 days. The psych department didn’t seem to know this could happen and tried blaming anything else but lexapro. This man had DKA, kidney failure, dialysis, a kidney transplant….and I’ve NEVER seen him this sick. They finally booked him an emergency appointment with psych tomorrow after me taking him to so many other doctors and basically telling them off.
