The perfect dessert to pair with ice cream 🤭 Taro Filling • 1 medium taro root, peeled and cut into chunks • 2–3 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste) • 1 tbsp unsalted butter • 2-3 tbsp condensed milk Cookie • Shanghai biscuits Fry Batter • All-purpose flour • 1 egg • Water (add enough to create a smooth batter, similar to pancake batter) OR • Tempura batter mix (prepared according to package directions for extra crispiness) For Frying • Neutral oil (heat to 375°F) Directions 1. Steam the taro for 15–20 minutes, or until fork tender. 2. Mash with the sugar, butter, and condensed milk until mostly smooth (we like to leave a few chunks!). 3. Roll into small balls and sandwich between two Shanghai crackers. 4. Coat each cookie in the batter. 5. Fry in 375°F oil until golden brown and crispy. You can search about Gabin Fla,it's Indonesian fried dessert,it is kinda similar to this but instead of taro,they use thick custard as filling. I'm not Indonesian sooo maybe they can explain it to you

In Singapore, our Burger King has taro pie and some (rare find) pastry makers make taro puff ( taro filling empanadas) UGH this reminds me of them they’re SO GOOD

we have something similar in indonesia called gabin! its commonly filled with tapai (fermented cassava) but it can be filled with anything, my favorite is the custard filled ones
