I learned while traveling that Filipinos do something similar called “ Mano po” where they essentially ask for blessing of the elder as well! So coool to see it in another culture

Keep teaching people about our culture!! I remember coming to the us and in being in school not rlly knowing to speak English well and everytime someone asked me where I’m from I will say I’m from the Dominican Republic and they never knew/understood me or my culture because of that and they just told me I’m Mexican or always assumed I was Mexican and that ain right lol

my suegra was so happy when i started besándole la mano, no one told me to… i just recognized the cultural value and knew it was the respectful thing to do!

when i came back to DR at 7 i didnt know what it was because my parents never taught me, my entire family kept flaming me because i kept literally kissing my great grandmas hand instead of telling me because i clearly didn't understand 😭😭😭😭😭 diabloooo que vergüenza cuando me recuerdo

my favorite part of family get togethers ❤️when i was a younger kid like toddler age i was taught that it was ‘ta (persons title aunt/uncle/grandma etc)’ cuz it was easier for the kids to say lollll
