People who back this war "because the Bible says so" are dispensationalists whether they know that word or not. That's not my opinion, that's history. A British preacher named John Nelson Darby invented that whole theology in the 1800s. It got printed straight into the footnotes of the Scofield Reference Bible in 1909, and millions of Americans have been reading those footnotes like they're scripture ever since. They're not. They're one guy's interpretation from 200 years ago. The Bible is 2,000+ years old. Modern Israel was founded in 1948. That's not the same country, that's not the same government, that's not the same anything — it's a modern secular state with an army and a foreign policy. You cannot take a promise made to a people thousands of years ago and slap it onto a 76 year old nation-state and call that "reading the Bible plainly." That's not plain, that's a stretch somebody built on purpose. And while people are out here defending it "for Jesus," Christians who have lived in Gaza and the West Bank for literal centuries are getting killed and driven out. Nobody's asking about them. That's the part that should make people stop and think, and it doesn't, because most of them have never even heard the word dispensationalism. They just think it's "the Bible" talking. That's what uneducated means here. Not stupid — uneducated. There's a difference, and it's the whole problem.
