When I was a senior in high school, condemned to the horrors of Catholic High School in Northern Virginia in the late 80s, I was SO salty that we weren't going to read the excerpt from The Hobbit in our textbook. I was so salty, that when we got to the poem, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, my neurotic, introverted self perked up. My hand went up too. When I was called upon, I stated that one of my favorite bands had written a song about it, and could I bring it in to share with the class? SHE SAID YES!! To her credit, she lasted around 5-6 minutes (it's 13 1/2 minutes long). Vengeance, was indeed, mine.

There is a festival my dad volunteers at every year. He used to work the desk but is now a wandering photographer. The year Iron Maiden played he said thousands of people showed up early in the morning so they could wait for opening around 11AM so they could rush the main stage and wait until 9PM. I now feel bad for the four other acts on the stage that day.
