Not to mention, he kinda git personally involved twice, albeit from the safety of his base. But he did try and involve himself in the World Between Worlds and as the one to try and manipulate Ezra and even that wasnt enough.

Its a tried and true rebellion strategy when against a vastly superior power, you dont need to win per say, simply not lose for long enough said power no longer wants to deal with you and will send its resources to deal with larger more important issues.

There was a lot on Lothal. Jedi temple communication array and the gate way to the world between worlds. Sidious gave up on it because everything he wanted was destroyed. Mostly just the world between worlds gate way is what he wanted. After the gate way closed he lost all interest, and most likely started working in both project Star dust and project Necromancer.

My head cannon is that the empire made some half hearted attempts to retake lothal, but mostly they were just keeping the area contained. That’s also my head cannon for why we don’t see the Phoenix squadron in the OT. They’re holding the system.

The planet’s literally only export that mattered was the ship yard. Beyond that they had nothing. Truly a middle of nowhere planet that just wasn’t worth the resources.

Lothal had Doonium according to the Thrawn book, an expensive alloy that was used for superweapons, after the mine was barren the empire lost interest in the planet

The more I learn about Empire, the more I get the feeling that Palpatine is really good at manipulating things but NOT at leading an empire. Like bruh..if I'm the emperor, I would at least listen to Grand Admiral Thrawn NOT to built Death Star or fund better tie fighter. There's literally a plot about making better tie fighter. What was going in his head when he thought retiring the clones are a good idea in the first place. 🥀
