Just back from a week in Madeira relying completely on Bolt. We stayed right by Cristo Rei and had no trouble getting a Bolt. Sometimes a 10 minute wait or so but we got to PR1 and back easily and all the way to PR18 although had to wait around 20 minutes for the return but it’s ok waiting in the cafe :) It made our trip easier and stress free, no worry about parking etc. so I would definitely recommend.

Busses in Funchal publish more data freely about busses compared to CAM and Rodeste on the rest of the island. This is important because as a first time tourist you will not be familiar and Google/Apple maps do not know about most bus stops outside of Funchal. (I’m making a travel app for Madeira to fix this problem but it’s not ready for release yet)

Bolt is half the price of regular taxis. So good. Also blue on off bus is good for 48 hr as red on off good for 24 hr
