@notayxan01: The Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (Amr bil-Ma'ruf wa Nahy 'an al-Munkar) was a government body in Saudi Arabia responsible for promoting public morality and encouraging adherence to Islamic values. It was officially established during the early years of the modern Saudi state, although similar institutions had existed long before. Its officers patrolled public places, encouraged people to attend congregational prayers, promoted proper conduct, and reported violations of public order. In 2016, the committee's powers were significantly reduced, and it lost the authority to detain or interrogate individuals, with those responsibilities transferred to the regular police. Since then, its role has focused mainly on providing advice, public awareness, and cooperating with other government agencies.
