making an educated guess he can't because of the nature of his technique keeping him at exactly those frames. it's exactly like how Todo chided Yuji into abandoning his divergent fist technique, because having a disconnect between physical strike and cursed energy detonation, no matter how small the disconnect, makes landing that hyper-precise window for a Black Flash impossible. again, just an educated guess.

Hitting a black flash is almost entirely about mentality l. It’s seen with gojo, yuji, mahito, todo, nobara, and any other black flash in the series. It almost always happens when somebody turns the tide, and feels a rush of power. Mahito having his curse speech. Todo being left behind and changing the tides by bringing it into 120%. Gojo hitting Sukuna with an unexploded red. They all mark turning points in a mentality for somebody in the fight. Naoya never changed. He never felt weak towards maki, and had no change in mentality the whole fight. A sorcerer knows when a black flash will hit, and it is almost predictable if you look at a scene from their POV. So it is most likely Naoya was not trying to hit a black flash as he did not have the feeling in the whole fight, and if he used cursed energy to enhance his blows, it would create a time lag between each strike. Making it impossible for him to black flash.
