There’s no way this is a uniquely Arab thing tho. Why the focus on that? No other Eastern nations do this? Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, some African countries?

the most terrible part of the sykes picot agreement is the division of the kurds inside the ottoman empire into 3 different states. i think if the kurds got their own country a lot of the problems wouldnt be there.
the sunnis and shiites in iraq also dont get along with each other. Jordan and Palestine shouldve been one country also in my opinion

I don't think there's a problem with uniting Saudi Arabia with Yemen and Jordan but it would require a transitional government phase for the Saudi economy to absorb it

I think Sykes picot was the product of Arab revolt since they didn’t like Turk Muslims and would rather side with the British during WW1. The Arab nationalism during that time is responsible for these borders not colonialism

most European leaders at that time had a classical education so the borders were based on millenia old borders.
if anything is was recent movements of people which were ignored, and would probably still be ignored if Arab leaders had to fight it out instead.

me as an iraqi would love to be together with syria/jordan , even if we split the oil money, and then join with the rest of the arab countries

why would Palestine and Jordan go to Saudi Arabia? Those along with Syria and Lebanon are all in the Levant region so they could be one country like Ottoman Syria was one province.

oh boy i wish pan-arabism could be achieved successfully, the more I talk to other fellow arabs the more I see the differences are negligible, and i hate how the internet exaggerates the hostility between us

These aren’t mutually exclusive arguments, the borders given were bad but we’ve gotta deal with them. It’s why the African Union generally forbids border realignments (with the exception of South Sudan). Also it’s fairly ignorant of history, the main thing stopping greater Arab Unions have been disputes over who would lead.
