I do think it is a combination of a lack of current trends, and the fact that is is a white inner corner highlight WITH inner corner definition, which is a slightly different take than the classic inner corner highlight. Those two things plus the fact that it is Zendaya is why it has gotten so popular

It’s moreso that it looks so good on her. For me anyway. Also it’s the focal point of the makeup. Whereas it’s more an accessory when other people do it.
