'I THOUGHT YOU WERE TAKING THE PISS!' said the nurse on a recent phone call. Back in October I had my ankle surgery to shorten my ligament by cutting a piece out of it pulling it back and attaching it to my ankle bone. I had gone years with me falling over on it continuously and rolling my ankle ending up on a pile on the floor. The pain was horrendous and I was noticing with my fibro that when I had been on my crutches and my ankles were tired they would start to roll inwards making walking even more difficult and extremely painful. I had many podiatry appointments with solutions such as ankle braces, steroid injections and physio, with nothing working. The doctor had one last solution....surgery so this was it! I was awake for the whole process and I remember telling my doctor whilst he was tugging and stretching at my ligament that my aim was to get back on my roller skates. I grew up on my skates, my quad skates were my mode of transport as a kid and I really wanted to hit this goal for myself. I obviously hit my goal and I took myself off to skate at the park on my own and had a ball doing it. I recently had my sign off phone call which went like this: Nurse: hows it going? Me: its amazing, im walking lots, im dancing and back on my roller skates! Nurse: ah amazing. Me: yep i take myself off to the park and go skating. Nurse: wait what you're skating? Me: yes im skating! Nurse: what at 46! Me: yes me at 46! Nurse: oh my god I thought you were taking the piss! Me: absolutely not! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 When things feel or seem impossible.... REMEMBER EVERYTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE UNTIL IT ISNT! 🔥🔥🔥
