I visited Disneyland & Disney California Adventure Park for the first time in over a decade despite a longing to visit for years. Being a high school teacher ties up my time during weekdays during the school year, and I avoided crowded weekends. I chose the Park Hopper on a Wednesday and found myself walking over 10 miles throughout the day. I started my day at Disney California Adventure with a mission to experience Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! first since I liked the films and to avoid a long line. Soarin’ Across America (my favorite attraction at the park since I loved Soarin’ Over California because it featured two things I know very well: Yosemite Falls and Half Dome). After experiencing a few more DCA attractions, I hopped over to Disneyland for a few hours before returning to DCA in the evening to ride Soaring’ Across America again and to experience World of Color at Paradise Bay. I am a big fan of the Star Wars Universe having seen all the movies and Disney+ series. I have always admired legendary actor James Earl Jones who provided the booming, iconic voice of Darth Vader, so he is a great reason for my Star Wars fandom since my preteen years. I enjoyed experiencing all the Star Wars related rides and attractions. My favorite Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge attraction was Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. After leaving Galaxy’s Edge, I made my way to Bayou Country for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. I loved everything about it including Princesses Tiana’s love for food! Tiana's Bayou Adventure musical journey follows Princess Tiana and Louis, her trumpet-playing alligator friend, preparing for a Mardi Gras celebration visitors get to experience after a thrilling 50-foot waterfall drop in a log flume in Bayou Country. I loved walking through the employee-owned co-op garden for Tiana's Foods and the old salt mine that helped tell the story of a princess who did not forget her humble roots. Visitors go through Tiana's same experience of being shrunken to see the bayou as if they were a frog's size only for wise Mama Odie to make them big again for a bigger splash down the climax waterfall drop. I loved Tiana's kitchen where you can see a fresh batch of her famous beignets dusted with powdered sugar ready to be drizzled with honey. I loved walking behind the kitchen to see framed images of Tiana and her dad winning a gumbo competition at the State Fair, and a handwritten copy of Tiana's Daddy's Gumbo recipe. I experienced the attraction twice since I am intrigued by Creole and Cajun cultures and New Orleans cuisine Tiana created in her kitchen. I had lunch at Princess Tiana's Palace in New Orleans Square where I discovered Princess Tiana's new offering of her French Quarter Fried Chicken Bowl, which reminded me of one of my favorite meals to cook of spicy hot honey fried chicken, baked Mac & Cheese and collard greens in my kitchen. I had to get the Buttermilk Cornbread because I always bake buttermilk or sweet potato cornbread to accompany my version of the dish. Visiting Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and eating good food at Princess Tiana’s Palace restaurant was a highlight of my return to Disneyland! After lunch I headed over to Tomorrowland for Stars Tours out of respect, and then to Space Mountain, which is a ride I have loved since the first time I visited Disneyland at my high school Grad Night in the 1990s. I headed back over to experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure again before returning to California Adventure for the evening. No matter how old one gets, the Inner Child is still alive within, so no one is too old for the Disneyland Resort! My post ends with an article Walt Disney wrote for a 1955 book titled How Prayer Helps Me about his faith and the power of prayer. #disneyresortparkhopper #disneyland #disneycaliforniaadventure #tianasbayouadventure #waltdisney
