@ingridhturner: The Four Psychic Senses: #1: Clairvoyance—this means clear seeing. It's like spirit riding your imagination. You might be clairvoyant if you have really vivid dreams that feel like real life, or if you think in pictures. For example, I'm very clairvoyant, and when I say words, I actually see the word written in my mind's eye. #2: clairaudience, or clear hearing. This is how you hear spirit. For most people, it starts out as hearing a disembodied voice when they're a kid, which can be really scary. In our society, hearing voices is considered a very bad thing, so we shut that down early. But it morphs into more subtle ways later: song snippets looping with a message, a foreign kind voice giving directions, or even tonal ringing in your ears. #3: clairsentience, which connects to being an empath. This is clear feeling—when you absorb the energy and emotions of other people and can't tell what is yours and what is theirs. It's overwhelming until you learn to protect yourself. Signs include feeling wiped out by crowds or physically picking up someone else's pain—like sitting next to someone and suddenly your shoulder hurts out of nowhere. #4: claircognizant, which is clear knowing. This one is challenging because you aren't seeing or feeling it; it just drops into you before you have time to judge it. You'll blurt things out without thinking, "Where did that come from?" It doesn't come from your experience; it just flies through you and then it's gone. And three bonus senses: Psychometry—psychic touch. This is holding an object to get information about its history, which is super popular in mediumship. Clairolfactance—psychic smell. You'll smell things that aren't there, like flowers when a loved one is near or cigarette smoke from someone's past lifetime. Clairgustance—psychic taste. You will taste things that aren't there. When I do readings for someone who has been sick, I get a weird antiseptic taste in my mouth. These basic psychic abilities are the bridge to talking to spirits, mediumship, and channeling.
