@_rubygracee: Your job as the parent is to teach them where the limit it, their job is to have the emotion about it being set. #boundaries #consciousparenting #parenting #gentleparenting #permissiveparenting

Why I can’t be hanging out with people who have kids. It’s all permissive parenting.

Also, you need to follow through on the positive. If you say tomorrow we will go to the park, you better stick to it. Works both ways 😊

Yesss I agree so much with this. I always have to remind my partner don’t set the boundary unless you’re willing to actually follow through. It makes such a big difference!

Can you do a video kind of like this but for toddlers? I have a 15 month old who is currently in the testing boundaries phase and I’m lost on what she can understand and what she can’t understand. First time mom here lol doing my best 🥲 she keeps climbing on the fireplace and opening our dressers and stuff and I’ve told her no climbing and no over and over and taken her off the fireplace and away from the drawers a million times but it still keeps happening

absolutely follow through! People may think my husband and I are strict but my daughter is one of the best behaved children I know. we have to teach them to eventually be adults. its a disservice to let them think they have no consequences

My issue with sticking to a boundary is I feel like such a terrible Mum! You’re missing out on ice cream tonight because your behaviour wasn’t good today, then they cry and I don’t want to make my babies sad🥺 my partner also says that my children walk over me because I don’t follow through.

yupppp. my son is 17 months and this is a continuous thing in our every day lives lolll. if he is misbehaving, he will be given a final warning before being taken to have some alone time. if he chucks food, he will be the one putting it back on his plate - doesn’t matter how long we’re there for. it starts when they’re young and keeping firm on certain things and boundaries is SO important. listening to me as your mummy is important. i’m not raising a child that hears my warnings and continues anyway because i don’t follow through. he will be raised right.

Yess! So important to hold boundaries 🙌🏼 what works for me is, I state what I need to happen, demonstrate it, practise it together and if it doesn’t happen I simply take action with love. Natural consequences that make sense I find are super effective for their learning. I do this without threatening that I will do something if they don’t. The emotions in response to the action are allowed. They need to know we’re on their team while we teach them the skills they are missing 🥰 this is my fav thing to talk about! Child development and psychology!! Love these convos.

Yes, but in a positive way. We don't need stricter parents. One thing to remember is that most parents are told your advice repeatedly.. “I will have a good child if I follow these rules”but really, kids need at least five positive comments a day. For example, you could say, You put that away after you played or 'Great job putting that away. I think parents should focus more on the little things that build them up instead of going coco😂

Gentle parenting isn’t real, something no one can convince me otherwise. You’re responsible for how they are raised. Boundaries are so important. 👏👏

Love this approach. It’s so true. It’s hard to follow through but it pays off in the long term for sure! Way too many prints are giving in coz it’s easier in the moment

Unfortunately, my child has oppositional defiant disorder, so I could say it one gazillion times and she would do the opposite.

Is there an age you think where this wouldn’t change even if you started this parenting now? I have a nearly 3 year old and only just started changing but I’m worried she’s already affected by how I used to parent
