BDS isn’t just about what you buy, it’s about what you approve, sign off on, or let pass unquestioned at work. Institutional decisions are recurring, contractual, and rarely scrutinized, which means one person in the right role can outweigh thousands of individual shoppers. Where your leverage might be hiding: • Vending machine and office supply contracts • Lab reagent and component suppliers • Trade fair exhibitor selection • Conference speaker invitations and sponsorships • IT/cloud/security vendor selection • Corporate travel, hotel, and airline bookings • Public procurement (municipal contracts, licitaciones) • School and university catering, transport, and tech contracts • Academic partnerships and exchange programs • Cultural festival and museum sponsorships/programming • Pension and investment fund management (unions, cooperatives) • Hospital and clinic medical supply contracts • Insurance and banking service renewals The ask: if you sit on a purchasing committee, manage a budget, sign off on vendors, or have a say in who gets invited or contracted, you have more power than you think.
