@lizzies.street.cat.club: Anyone can be a rescuer! 👏 Ultimately Gilbert wasn’t trapped by me, it was a neighbor on the block who spotted him late in the evening and was able to scoop him up to safety. Before we got him, Gilbert’s eyes were crusted over with infection and he is definitely struggling with an upper respiratory infection. We’ve started him on medicine to treat both issues and just 24 hours later he already seems improved. But Gilbert’s also got a perfect little potato bod for a kitten his age (good job Momma!) and has a good appetite so we’ve got lots of reasons to be hopeful he’ll recover just fine now that he’s in our care. We are going back for the entire family and, despite the set backs from our first attempt, we’ve got wind in our sails. It’s only a matter of time before we’ve secured them all 💕

You probably already know this. But terimycin off Amazon or tractor supply is amazing for the funky eyes. But posting this for anyone that doesn’t know. Careful taking the lid off or squeezing it comes out super easy. Qtip size amount on the eyelid once a day for a week usually clears it all right up 🥰 and lysine immunity booster powder in the water or sprinkled in wet food helps if their sick. Just don’t overdo it. Can cause tummy issues vomiting if too much base it on weight. Also pumpkin by itself or with sweet potato powder off Amazon or even a can of canned pumpkin no sugar added diluted does wonders for diarrhea or constipation. Also sardines in water dollar tree has big ones. Great for them sometimes esp if you don’t have wet food or food. And it has taurine in it. Which they need or even meat baby foods like 1.50 jars are vet approved also. Also eggs scrambled just don’t add salt or butter. Nothing with garlic or onions. Bone broth low salt with no garlic and onion is good too added to things. Extra nutrients. And if you don’t have wet food or cat food handy. Some white rice, eggs, boiled carrots chopped up by itself is great or with added chicken Turkey etc I’d anyone’s ever low on money and has them and wants to help feed some strays. 🥰
