Honestly, I would think “simple wish” would be great at getting some of the more useful equipment pieces. Like you are at a cliff and you need to get down “I wish for a rope and anchor point exactly as long as we need to climb down”

Twisted Wish. Cantrip. This spell precisely mimics the 9th level spell Wish with the sole exception that the DM must not under any circumstances permit the spirit and/or letter of the wish to be fulfilled. For example if a character were to wish for obscene wealth, they will find that they cannot spend any money as it would make them less wealthy. The effect can be reversed in its entirety by a magical effect that would dispell a curse.

I would absolutely abuse that spell ! every night before a long rest I would wish for a full night's rest then go to sleep. it's a simple wish but also means most likely we won't get attacked by anything.(I don't get 8 hours of sleep but my character will!)

There definitely should be a sixth or fifth level version of wish.

A third level slot that copies any 2nd or 1st level spell is a useful way to get around some spell list limitations or a way to avoid preparing those simple utility spells, pretty useful in a lot of cases I’d say, especially if you run spell points instead of slots!
