I used to look at photos and feel so much love. And now when I look at it, I remember that immense love that I had felt for him, but the grief knowing that love is no longer there. Not like it was before.

I think your experience is common when you’ve gone through a relationship ending betrayal. They are a lot of ways to be betrayed by someone you love. I suppose infidelity is the most common. All betrayers become strangers after the betrayal is revealed.

i deleted all the photos on my phone but have some on my computer. The last time I saw them I was like "I was happy and really loved him, while for him maybe this meant nothing". At the end my love for him was real and I'm happy I felt it. And now I'm happy I didn't end up with him.

He became a stranger as soon as he started lying. For me - he lied from the beginning and I never knew him even 7 years in. Now he feels like a stranger on a true crime show. My son looks a lot like him. 😥 Grief. Glad we’re allowing ourselves to feel it.

oh i hear you. my relationship over after 23 years. what you are describing is how I feel. growth through grief. I am 2 years post blinsided breakup & it is fair to say my ex is someone I dont recognise anymore. I am stronger than I ever thought was possible. tc of you.

I have pictures like this too… sometimes I think that version of me was trying to have some kind of understanding of that version of him. Neither of us knew each other at all even after 5 years…

I remember this happened to me once. It was the realization that so much of what made me the person I am today is because of a person I don’t even recognize anymore. It wasn’t sad, just a weird marker of time.
