Form my experience a lot of times the HR or hiring manager are reading from their notes on the laptop. Can this work for both sides? Meaning is it ok for me also to use talking points with notes?

I don’t have a laptop I can use, so I got a phone stand with a long adjustable arm, and I set up a ring light next to it. Is that an issue?

I recently had an interview with a recruiter and they decided they wanted their camera off while I had mine on, so it was super awkward and I didn’t know if it was appropriate for me to now turn mine off but I didn’t and it just felt like someone watching me from a one way mirror. Also when we interview sometimes we look for cues in the recruiter to see if they agree, understand or whatever but I couldn’t tell since I could see. It was annoying to say the least.

I’ve had two people that I was getting interviewed by picking their nose on camera. The last interview I had had a concert T-shirt on and the other person on a T-shirt was stains on it.

I try to never use any of the backgrounds, I think they are awful. When we all went to wfh I bought a folding screen that I could put behind me to block my bedroom. I just keep it in my closet but it’s easy to pull out if I need a background that’s neutral.
