@darknight.m: In Batman Issue No. 423 three cops narrate tales of the Dark Knight, each revealing different facets of Batman's character. The third and last story is about how one of the policemen and Batman discovered two children out alone at night. When they approach them, the kids get scared at first but the more Batman talks to them, the more they start to open up. The children turn out to be siblings. And orphans. Their mother died in a car crash and their father moved to Gotham hoping for a better job and a better future. But an escalation during a poker game gets him killed and the children orphaned. When a social worker finds them, she attempts to seperate them, sending each of them to a boys' and girls' home. The children don't want to part ways so they run off and live on the streets until they're discovered. After this discovery, Bruce Wayne takes them in temporarily until they find a relative that can take them in. When Alfred jokingly points out that the avenging Dark Knight has gone soft, Bruce agrees but he adds that he hasn't gone soft enough for anyone but Alfred to notice. This issue portrays perfectly who Batman is. He is more than the tales of violence and power. He is more than the fear he causes in criminals and the villains he fights. After all, Batman is the very same scared and lonely boy who spent his life training so no other child would have to feel the way he did. #batman #batmancomic #thedarkknight #dc #dccomics
