@paris: One of the hardest lessons I’ve had to learn is that not everyone will love the way you love. If you’re someone who gives wholeheartedly, shows up consistently, and pours into the people you care about, it can be incredibly painful when that energy isn’t returned. For a long time, I took that personally. What changed everything was realizing that everyone has a different role in my life. Not everyone is meant to be a best friend. Not everyone is meant to be a safe place. Not everyone is meant to love me the way I love them. And that’s okay. Once I stopped overplaying my role in other people’s lives and started recognizing the role they actually played in mine, I stopped expecting from people what they were never able to give. That shift protected my peace. It didn’t make me love people any less. It simply taught me where my energy belongs 🤍
