I came across a LinkedIn post from Brandon, a frustrated jobseeker and I want to share the whole thing with you. Here is Brandon’s Post: ‘I really don’t understand the recruiting process these days. Honestly, it feels like it’s getting worse. Over the past few months, I’ve heard a growing number of frustrating stories from friends, former colleagues, and even strangers on LinkedIn. Take this one: a candidate gets an automated message saying they’re no longer being considered for a role, only to have the recruiter reach out days later with an apology — turns out, the message was sent by mistake. Or how about the recruiters who message candidates non-stop about exciting opportunities, only for the candidate to respond and hear… crickets. Then, days later, the recruiter finally responds with an apology: “Sorry, the position’s already been filled.” The thing is, the recruiting process is already a mental and emotional rollercoaster for candidates. As a millennial, I feel like it’s always been a bit of a mess. You’d think, with all this advanced technology and automation, things would have gotten smoother. But in reality, it feels like the experience is just as frustrating — if not more so — than it ever has been. We need a major reform in the recruiting process. Now, I’m not saying all recruiters are bad; I know there are many who truly care and do their jobs well. But when I hear these stories more often than I hear success stories, it’s hard not to feel like something needs to change. And you know what? Brandon’s not alone. I hear versions of this story all the time — ghosting, mixed signals, automation mistakes. For jobseekers, it’s not just frustrating, it’s exhausting. Sure, there are great recruiters out there — but when the negative experiences start to outweigh the positive, candidates lose trust in the whole process. And when trust breaks down, everybody loses. So let me ask you — what’s been your experience with recruiters lately? Have you dealt with ghosting, auto-rejections, or those last-minute ‘sorry, the role’s gone’ emails? Drop your story in the comments because I think Brandon speaks for a lot of people. Let’s get your voices heard! #frustratedjobseeker #ghostedbyrecruiter #linkedin #jobsearch #recruiter
