Chicken-Crispy and Oven-Fried 2½- to 3-lb. broiler-fryer chicken, cut up 1/4 cup shortening 1/4 cup butter or margarin 1/2 cup Gold Medal Flour* 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. paprika 1/4 tsp. pepper Heat oven to 425°. Wash chicken and pat dry. In oven, melt shortening and butter in baking pan, 13x9x2". Mix flour, salt, paprika and pepper. Coat chicken pieces thoroughly with the flour mixture. Place chicken skin side down in melted shortening. Cook uncovered 30 min. Man the 70s what a trip haha. You know it’s okay I mean yeah I’m glad he like it. My mom made shake and bake often it was the only fried sorta fried food we got. But was good. I’m gonna try this thank you!!! It looks good!

Try smoked paprika makes it so much better and just use a stick of land of lakes butter no shortening

I still make that one regularly, grew up on it. I add a buncha seasoning to the flour. Ranch seasoning is real good in there

I grew up in the 70's. My mom used to cook this all of the time but with a lot more seasoning 😊 We're Cajun and we season everything!

My mother made oven fried chicken exactly like that, but used potato flakes (instant potatoes) instead of flour. It elevates the chicken. You should try it. Trust me. 🥰

I don't know about men but my neighbor made this and when I was little I would go wash her dishes for a chicken leg. I liked to play in the bubbles so I was loaned out a bit but I still remember that chicken.
