Female OB/GYN here. ❤️I’m sorry you feel dismissed. But I worry that framing this as a “female doctor” issue contributes to the stereotypes and bias that female physicians already face every day. The research actually shows that female physicians have outcomes that are at least comparable and, in some studies, even better on certain patient outcomes. What I’ve learned as both an OB/GYN and now a pregnant OB/GYN is that connection matters. Since becoming pregnant, I’ve had even more candid, real conversations with my patients. We talk about the nausea, exhaustion, anxiety, and all the things that don’t make it into the textbooks. The problem isn’t whether your doctor is male or female. The problem is whether they listen, care, and make you feel seen. I’ve worked with amazing physicians of both genders, and every patient deserves that experience.

Some major studies actually show that patients have better outcomes with female doctors/surgeons...... I'm sorry that that has been your experience, but I definitely don't think that is a universal consensus

Yep! I have experienced this! Switched to make OB and he’s AMAZING so attentive and really takes his time answering my questions. I have had two women OBs and they both belittled me , dismissive, and made feel like an Idoit for asking questions.

I have a female ob gyn and she is seriously the nicest and most down to earth woman I have ever met. I moved out of the area and still go back to see her because I know no one will ever compare to her!
