If the consumers had control over which providers benefitted them the most that would be awesome. That just doesn’t seem to be the case, at least anymore, due to horizontal growth of ownership maybe. Now it feels like consumers are given the illusion of choice and have less influence on the behavior and success of companies than the 1% that invest in them and try to squeeze as much margin as possible which tries to find the perfect line between making their products cheaper to produce and more expensive to buy. And when they’re the only option for consumers we all pay the price for that.
