@doggy.u: One thing people don't always think about when flying with a service dog: there's a good chance you won't be the only one with a dog on the plane. It's common to have another service dog onboard, and there may also be pet dogs traveling in carriers under the seat. If your dog is distracted by other dogs, barks, whines, stares, or can't settle when another dog is nearby, they're not ready to fly yet. Instead of rushing to book a flight, spend time building those skills first. Practice settling around dogs you know, then gradually work up to unfamiliar dogs in a variety of environments. The goal isn't just ignoring another dog for a few seconds—it's being able to truly relax for the duration of the flight. I started Denver's dog neutrality training when he was a puppy using the engage/disengage game, and that foundation has made a huge difference as we've worked toward real-world travel. #ServiceDog #ServiceDogHandler #ServiceDogTravel #AccessibleTravel #ServiceDogTrainer Accessibility: yellow Labrador retriever in blue service dog vest is curled up on a plane. White text reads “there are two other dogs on this flight. But you’d never know it.”
