@murzbo: bison flips tourist at yellowstone national park apparently the bison did not want to get his picture taken An enraged bull bison violently attacked an elderly tourist at Yellowstone National Park's Bridge Bay Campground on July 10, 2026. The unprovoked attack, caught on video, left the man hospitalized with significant, serious injuries. The encounter unfolded on Friday evening when an agitated, 2,000-pound bull bison entered the Bridge Bay Campground. Unlike many previous park incidents, witnesses and video footage confirm that the tourist did not provoke the animal and was maintaining a respectful distance. The Charge: The bison was already highly agitated, having previously charged a group of children and a passing white pickup truck. The Attack: As an elderly man and his grandson walked along a nearby road, the bison locked onto them from roughly 100 yards away. The grandfather attempted to hide behind a copse of trees, but the bison pursued him, hooked him by the hip, and tossed him 8 feet into the air.The Rescue: Professional photographer Mike MacLeod, who filmed the encounter, stopped recording and ran toward the bison alongside other bystanders to shout and distract it. Their intervention successfully scared the bull away before it could gore the man on the ground. Emergency medical services arrived shortly after to treat the victim. Why the Bison AttackedWildlife experts and witnesses attribute the animal's highly volatile behavior to the annual bison rut (mating season), which runs from June to September. During this time, male bison experience massive surges in hormones, making them exceptionally territorial, aggressive, and unpredictable. Yellowstone Wildlife Safety Rules The National Park Service actively enforces strict distance guidelines to ensure visitor safety around unpredictable wildlife: Animal Type Minimum Required Distance Bison, Elk, Deer, & Moose 25 yards (75 feet) Bears, Wolves, & Cougars 100 yards (300 feet) Park officials reiterate that the safest way to view bison is always from inside a vehicle. If an animal begins moving toward you, visitors are legally required to back away immediately to maintain safety. 🎥 molly ploofkins #bison #bisontok #bisons #tourist #flip

I was camping at black falls when I got out of the tent and saw a bison 10 yards away with at least 15 right behind him. It wasn’t mating season so they were gentle giants thankfully 😂 hope this guy & his grandson are doing okay now!!
